
65th Anniversary Liberation of the Netherlands 1945-2010 WW II Canadian Veterans being honored in Fredericton, NB May 3 to 9, 2010, committee unveils its plans.
Since 1995 has the Canada Holland Remembers Committee been organizing a weeklong event in Fredericton, NB, every five years in the first week of May to commemorate the Liberation of Holland (the Netherlands) by the Canadian Army and the Allied Forces. From May 3 to May 9 2010, the committee has planned many activities for the WW II Canadian Veterans and for their families who might wish to attend these events.
Monday, May 3: kick-off Canada Holland Remembers week at the New Brunswick provincial Archives Bldg, with an exposition of photo memorabalia of the 1940-1945 era. Due to limited space, by invitation only. The exhibit wil run for a few months after May 3, 2010. perhaps an ideal venue for middle school students to visit the exhibit as part of a history project.
Tuesday May 4: Remembrance day in the Netherlands. A Remembrance Day service is planned at the Fredericton New Brunswick Provincial Cenotaph, and the youth are encouraged to take part in this event. 100 specially designed red copper head candles supplied by Veterans Affairs Canada will be placed by the youth in a half circle around the Fredericton cenotaph. The Rozenburg Male Choir from the Netherlands will assist in the musical part of this program, and we have requested a fly pass by 403 helicopter sqd from CFB Gagetown.
Wednesday May 5: Liberation Day in the Netherlands. The Rozenburg Male Choir performs a mini-concert at the Veterans Health Unit on Priestman Street in Fredericton. Due to limited space, for house guests and their immediate family only please. A large concert will be held this same day at St Paul's United Church, York St, Fredericton. A free will offering will be taken.
Thursday May 6: mini-concert Rozenburg's Male Choir Ridgewood Veterans Wing, Saint John, NB closed venue for residents of Veterans Wing only.

Friday May 7: Night of the Veteran: A musical Tattoo (in Dutch Taptoe) tribute to our Liberators. Location: York Arena, Barker Street, Fredericton, NB. Starting at 19.00 hrs sharp.
This event will be started off by Nic de Vries and his Dixie Band and includes participation by the Rozenburg Male Choir and the Rozenburg Folklore Dancers from the Netherlands as well as Pipe, Drum, and Marching Bands from the Fredericton region, and WW II Vehicles from New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.
Saturday May 8-2 PM Liberation Parade starts at 14:00 hrs from St Anne's Drive. Heading the parade will be an all color party, followed by a marching band, Vintage WW II vehicles from New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, filled with WW II Canadian Veterans. Present Canadian Army Vehicles and Personnel from Base Gagetown, Militia, Sea Cadets, Army Cadets and Air Cadets, Rozenburg's Male Choir and Folklore Dancers, and more marching bands will follow the parade down Queen Street.
5.00 pm Take a Vet for Dinner event at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 4, Queen Street, Fredericton, NB. Entertainment following the dinner. Tickets in advance only at $ 15.00 p.p. at the branch. To buy tickets in advance call the RCL Branch # 4 at 458-8377 now and avoid disappointment later.
