Dutch Passport Pilot Project a huge success in Halifax, NS and Fredericton, NB. On monday november 14 and tuesday november 15, Paula Martin of the Dutch Embassy in Ottawa travelled to Halifax, NS where she met with Dutch people from Nova Scotia and PEI at the office of the Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Guido Kerpel, to accept applications to renew their passports, and take their finger prints for the new improved biometric Dutch Passports. On wednesday november 16 and thurday november 17, Paula Martin came to Fredericton for the same reason, and used the offices of the Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Matthew Tweedie. In all, over 90 Dutch passport applications were accepted, and Paula ended up working overtime due to the great response she had.

This mobile biometric pilot project was a success, but is not a given. They did exactly what they set out to do, a pilot project. In order for this service to continue, you need to let the Dutch Embassy in Ottawa know, that we like to see this service on an annual basis, as many people of Dutch descent who own a Dutch Passport live in the Maritimes. I therefore suggest strongly, that you write to Paula Martin in Ottawa at ott-ca@minbuza.nl , and let your desires be known.
